A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of being invited to and photographing the bridal shower for Betty (one-half of the lovely couple in this engagement session). The afternoon gathering was adorably designed with an elegant, rustic lovebirds motif, right down to the tiny sprigs and bird ornaments on the favor boxes!

Betty’s sister, the hostess who dreamed up this charming theme, didn’t overlook a single detail. The decor was do-it-yourself heaven… votive candles lay in (literal) nests of peat moss and wicker; bird-shaped cutouts floated from garlands laced with baby’s breath; and paper bird tags, adorned with little tulle bows, hung on gift bags from strands of raffia.

I especially loved the shower game where guests had ten minutes to dress up miniature wooden dolls with bridal couture creations made from tissue paper. The outfits were so creative! The girls made tissue paper rosette trimmings, tissue paper veils, braided tissue paper sashes… one team even made a fabulous billowing headdress that was very Carrie Bradshaw-esque!

Aren’t these cupcakes so sweet? I have a weakness for cupcakes (especially red velvet), but these were so pretty, I almost wanted to leave them for display. Almost… hehe.

Betty and her soon-to-be-hubby John will wed next weekend in the Temecula Valley Wine Country. After seeing all the love and gorgeousness poured into her bridal shower, I have no doubt their wedding will be amazing! We’re excited to shoot the big day!
