Fast-forward to eight years later: Betty (a high school teacher at the time) found herself in the same city as John, while she was taking her students on a field trip to San Francisco. They decided to meet up for old times’ sake, as they hadn’t seen each other for many years. Though their meeting was brief, all their old feelings for each other came back and they wanted to give it another go. A fortuitous job transfer sent John down to LA where Betty was living, and they have been inseparable since! Thirteen years after falling in love in school, John proposed to Betty at the little park in Berkeley where they shared their first kiss as teenagers. Betty, of course, was ecstatic!

Betty and John wanted to shoot their engagement photos at all their favorite local hangouts… Griffith Park, Griffith Observatory, and Brand Park in Glendale. Being a low-key, down-to-earth couple, they wanted a simple engagement session that showed them relaxing with each other, taking romantic walks together, and enjoying the places that held special meaning for them.

When we asked what they liked to do at home together, their answer was instantaneous and simultaneous: ‘Rock Band!’ So we thought it would be fun to tag along and shoot them rockin’ out to their favorite songs in their living room. (Even Will and I got to try our hand at it!) As holds true… the couple that plays together, stays together!
